Unfinished Visions: A Collaborative Research Series on South Asian Visual Culture

Introduction

This series of work-in-progress sessions aims to bring together scholars who use the visual –broadly defined– as a site of and for research. Each session will focus on discussing a work-in-progress paper by a scholar from any discipline who incorporates visual elements in their research. We will explore the methods, practices, theories, and ideologies that inform their work, with an emphasis on reflection and constructive feedback. Through these sessions, we aim to cultivate a collaborative space for understanding the definitions, practices, and praxis of the visual. This series is run by Dr Anisha Palat and Dr Silvia Genovese.

For each session, the speaker will share their paper draft with participants at least two weeks in advance. During the meeting, the speaker will have the chance to give a brief 15-minute presentation on their paper, followed by 45 minutes of discussion and feedback. If you are interested in joining as a speaker or participant, we warmly welcome your involvement. We especially encourage PhD candidates and early-career researchers to participate.

Please email us at anishapalat@gmail.com or siv.genovese@gmail.com to join the mailing list.
