Daniel is an applied mathematician with expertise in design and optimisation of the energy system decarbonisation. He is Professor of Energy Systems in the Institute for Energy Systems in the School of Engineering. His current focus is on the integration of thermal energy systems into the wider energy system to achieve a net zero society. He was a Co-Investigator in the ESRC/GCRF Cool Infrastructures project and the PI of a Covid-19 Urgency project which investigated the effects of Covid lockdown measures and global warming on heat stress in informal settlements in Indonesia, Pakistan, India and Cameroon.
