Biography
Shishusri is a Lecturer in International Development at the University of Edinburgh. Her Ph.D. was interdisciplinary in nature and her research was at the interface of development studies, science and technology studies and associated disciplines such as policy studies and economics. Her work focuses on the role of science and innovation in Asian and African development. Her research centres on energy policy, politics of the energy economy, environmental sustainability, energy technologies, rural development, governance, and gender studies. She researches on energy and related development policies and their socio-economic impact in developing regions like India and Africa.

From August 2007 to July 2009 she was employed as a Research Fellow in a DFID project titled Policy Innovation Systems for Clean Energy Security (PISCES). She analysed the social and policy issues in energy, emphasising on the use of sustainable resources in developing regions, energy and food security, technological innovation, environmental impacts, and socio-economic issues associated with development policies. She was in charge of designing the research methodology and research questions for the climate and environment theme for energy policy issues. She conducted workshops which involved stakeholders from various government sectors like energy, rural development and agriculture and received funding from the ministry of energy in India. Her research was  recognised by the PISCES team and she was invited to present her work to the DFID members and a team of specialists.

Teaching
I am the acting Programme Director for the MSc in Africa and International Development (On course students) and the Programme Director for the MSc in International Development (Incoming students)

I am the course convenor of the MSc course 'Foundations of  Science, Technology and International Development. This course runs in the second semester. 

I also lecture on 'Key skills in development practice' and 'Sustainable Development 2A'.
