(University of Glasgow): Reader in Geography at the University of Glasgow.

He has beenconducting research in South Asia since 1987, and his principal research interests arefocused upon social movements and the cultural politics of development in the subcontinent.

He is author of Terrains of Resistance: nonviolent social movements and the contestation of place in India (1993, Praeger); The Geopolitics Reader (co-edited with G. O'Tuathail & S. Dalby; 1998, Routledge); Entanglements of Power: geographies of domination/resistance (co-edited with J. Sharp, C. Philo & R. Paddison; 2000, Routledge); and numerous articles on the politics of resistance in India and Nepal. He currently teaches Honours Geography courses on India and Cultural Geography.
