Edinburgh University's Centre for South Asian Studies is collaborating in the organisation of a conference on The City in South Asia, which is being held at the National Museum of Ethnology (Minpaku) in Osaka, Japan in July 2010. A number of current and former Edinburgh staff are participating.

This is the first of what we hope will be many ventures to arise from the Framework Collaboration Agreement signed between the University of Edinburgh and the National Museum of Ethnology in May 2010 and the specific collaboration agreement signed at the same time between CSAS and MINDAS (the centre for Contemporary Indian Area Studies) at the NME.

The conference is supported by the NIHU program of contemporary India Area Studies. A copy of the conference flyer (in Japanese) may be downloaded from the MINDAS website. http://www.minpaku.ac.jp/research/mindas/
